Windows Vista Service Pack 1 has arrived. Most people will be able to download it via Windows Update as of mid of March, but for the rest who do not want to wait there are two options.
One option is to use a registry workaround and force Windows Update to show your service pack 1 now. The method is well described on the website www.mydigitallife.info, just search the recent posts. The only disadvantage of that is a little uncertainty, that Service Pack is actually the latest-latest when received in this way.
The second option is to download the whole thing from the internet.
Underground group nDn has leaked Windows Vista Service Pack 1 Build 6001.18000 for 32-bit version of Windows. It is basically 434 MB file Windows6.0-KB936330-X86.exe
It is claimed in the nfo message that full Build tag is: 6001.18000.rtm.080118-1840
It is easy to find this file in the internet, just type in Google "Microsoft.Windows.Vista.SP1.Update.32Bit" and the name of your favorite public file hosting service, like rapidshare.
Installation
There is nothing particular exciting about installation itself. Just let me show you two screens below.
The first screen:

The second screen is interesting if you scroll down the EULA text:

What is cool about Windows Vista Service Pack 1?
There is a nice explanation in this brochure from Microsoft: Notable changes in Windows Vista SP1
The list of imptrovements is big:
Improves reliability by preventing data-loss while ejecting NTFS-formatted removable-media. Improves reliability of IPSec connections over IPv6 helping ensure that all Neighbor Discovery RFC traffic is IPsec exempted. Improves certain problem scenarios where a driver goes to sleep with incomplete packet transmissions by helping ensure the driver is given enough time to transmit or discard any outstanding packets before going to sleep. Improves wireless ad-hoc connection (computer-to-computer wireless connections) success rate.
Improves performance over Windows Vista’s current performance across the following scenarios: 25% faster when copying files locally on the same disk on the same machine 45% faster when copying files from a remote non-Windows Vista system to a SP1 system 50% faster when copying files from a remote SP1 system to a local SP1 system

P.S.
The last but not least, Service Pack 1 has ignored the Vista Loader crack. My conspiracy theory says this is not by accident.
